About the Artist

Patty Waller has been drawing and painting, mostly animals and especially horses, from a young age. Though self
taught, she has become proficient in many media, including oils, opaque watercolor, transparent watercolor, and
pastel. Her degree in Zoology from Clemson University has helped her to understand anatomy, animal behavior,
and the natural world.

Patty has participated in over 100 vendor shows including SC Horsemans Council, Hills Skills, horse expos, and
First Night in Greenville, SC. She has won national awards with the annual Harness Tracks of America art show
and auction, purchase awards, and awards in regional juried shows. She was selected as an Artist in Residence
for SC State Parks.

Patty has been riding, training, driving, and breeding her own horses for over 30 years as well as studying equine
breeds and sports. As a result, she is a well rounded horse person who understands the many facets of
horsemanship. She has also developed photographic skills to help her capture her equine subjects for
portraiture and fine art.

Patty strives to capture not just the color, conformation, and markings, of her
subjects, but their unique personalities as well. She does not copy photographs,
but instead, each painting is a composite of many sources. She tries to make each
piece stand alone as artwork so it will remain valuable to many people in years
to come.

She also has portraits of dogs and other companion animals, and paints wildlife,
landscapes, and birds. She always strives to make each client satisfied and includes
their input as their painting progresses. She has artwork for sale at all times.
